Rainforest Cafe at Disneyland Paris – A Delicious Dining Adventure Your Kids Will Never Forget!

Discover our top tips, tastes and treats at the Rainforest Cafe at the Disney Village, Disneyland Paris!

Atmosphere

The clue is in the title: dining here is like being in a tropical rainforest. Trees, plants and flowers line the walls, with many exotic residents coming to life all around you. A spectacular water feature at the back of the restaurant creates a tranquil vibe, making the occasional thunderstorm all the more dramatic when they occur! Think dull lighting, rumbling thunder, elephants trumpeting and the sound of a sharp heavy downpour! It’s not extreme enough to scare young children, but enough to stir up the animals in to a frenzy! It only lasts a minute or so, but all contributes to the experience, enveloping you in the ongoing rainforest story! As well as animatronic animals, there are a number of aquarium tanks around the restaurant brimming with beautiful exotic fish, just adding another layer of interest to this already vibrant space. If your kids are easily distracted though, expect your meal to take a lot longer than usual here!

Kids Menu

Grubs up! OK, so they don’t serve grubs or any other exotic species, but they do have plenty of family friendly options on their dedicated kids menu. With menus available in English and French, the choices include chicken nuggets, fish, burgers, meatballs, grilled chicken, pizza, chips, rice, pasta… even a jacket potato! You can tailor the mains and sides to your children’s liking too, simply mix and match what your kids fancy. Teddy had chicken nuggets and chips, with an apple juice to drink and a Hairdo Push Up ice cream for dessert. The other wonderful thing about the children’s menu is that its got fun activities printed on the back, and this includes a scavenger hunt to find all of the Rainforest Cafe characters around the restaurant! I would highly recommend they don’t do this independently however, as the restaurant can get very busy, the layout can be confusing, and many of the animals are close to where others are trying to enjoy their meal!

Main Menu

In a country where it can be hard to avoid bread, pastry and cheese, it is refreshing to see some other options on the menu! Of course there are burgers and fries available (and Joe did say his burger was great), however I tire of fried food quickly, so it was a huge relief to see a selection of pasta and salads to choose from too. The portion of pasta was huge – I couldn’t quite manage it all and I was ravenous – so you do get your moneys worth!

Desserts

Even though we were quite full, it would be rude not to have a dessert on holiday, so we pushed through the barrier and ordered one each! The chocolate brownie sundae was delicious, and even better when washed down with a proper cup of English tea with cold milk! What can I say? I like my home comforts! Joe opted for the “Rainforest Coffee” which was a choice of hot drink accompanied by 3 mini desserts for €11, which I don’t think was a bad deal! There are often seasonal specials too, however they didn’t take our fancy on this occasion.

Drinks

The Rainforest Cafe has a decent selection of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks, including speciality and seasonal cocktails. We didn’t try anything new on this visit, but I have it on good authority that they know how to make a great mojito!

Location

The Rainforest Cafe is towards the end of the Disney Village area at Disneyland Paris. The great thing about this is you don’t need a park ticket, so you can come when you want! They don’t take reservations either, so it’s first-come, first-serve at all times. The restaurant has an eye-catching exterior, complete with whimsical mushrooms out front and a couple of elephants to the rear! Don’t forget to take a snoop around the gift shop too – and say “bonjour” to Tracy Tree!

Top Tips

Have dinner early. If you can sit down early (between 16:30-17:15) there is literally no queue, fast and attentive service and the freedom to walk around and take pictures. By 18:00 the queue was out of the door and people were being given pagers to join a virtual queue and return later! No-one likes waiting around or hangry travel companions, so arrive before the rush & thank me later!

Visit on a non-park day. You don’t need a park ticket to enter Disney Village – simply pass through the security checkpoint and head left. It’s a great way to build excitement before your first park day, and with no attractions or shows  to rush back for, you can take your time and really drink in the atmosphere.

In Summary

A fantastic dining experience for families and adults alike, it’s ideal for those looking to experience something enchanting without the typically Disney price tag. Sure, it’s not the cheapest restaurant in the world, but it’s a fairly good value option for themed table service dining at Disneyland Paris! The portions are huge, the food is decent and the staff are great!
