Premier Inn Southampton West

Our hotel of choice near Paulton’s Park (home of Peppa Pig World), and a popular budget option for cruisers too, the Premier Inn Southampton West is great value for money. Here is why we love it!

Location, location, location

Before booking a hotel for any occasion, we always consider location a priority, and there is a lot to weigh up. Parking, distance to destination and price are always considerations, but this one ticks all of the boxes if you are visiting Southampton or Paulton’s Park by car, particularly if you are watching the pennies. Rooms are from £54 per night excluding breakfast. This is around half of the cost of a room in Southampton city centre on average!

Always a Warm Welcome

Despite arriving quite late in the evening (21:30) and having a snag with the electronic room key, the ladies on the front desk were incredibly welcoming and sympathetic to our needs as we were travelling with a tried little one. They made sure to point out the extra tea and coffee facilities (clearly we looked like we needed caffeine) and the breakfast restaurant before showing us to our rooms. We encountered several members of staff over the duration of our 2 night weekend stay, and I must say everyone was polite, courteous and as helpful as they could possibly be, even during busy times. 10/10 for the staff here!

Room for Everyone!

Once of my favourite things about the Premier Inn chain is that every property is held to the same standard, so you know exactly what to expect in the best way possible. All rooms are well proportioned, have all of the basic amenities you could require and they are clean. The decor is simple yet effective, and we have always found the hotels to be well maintained, regardless of its age or location. The Premier Inn Southampton West has rooms which sleep up to 4 (a king sized bed, a sofa bed and a pull-out bed), plus a limited number of accessible rooms.

Clean, spacious and functional – just what we needed after a long journey!

Although there are already some in the room, you can help yourself to extra tea and coffee amenities from the refreshment stand in the lobby, and extra clean towels are available on request. We also noticed there was a couple of vending machines in the reception area too, just incase you fancied something else. They also have basic essentials such as toothbrushes available to purchase should you need anything.

A handy work space, should you need it during your stay.

Bathrooms can be a bit hit-and-miss in some hotels, however the Premier Inn has mastered the art of an ideal functional family bathroom. Bath over shower, large towel rail, hooks for hanging your toiletry bag, a large well-lit mirror, sparkling clean and well maintained. Decent quality hand wash and body wash available. A nice amount of space next to the sink for your bits and bobs. You really couldn’t ask for anything more!

I love myself a functional space, and this really does tick all the bathroom boxes!

A Bumper Breakfast

One of the best value add-ons is the buffet breakfast. Though the restaurant itself feels a little too small for the size of the hotel, the food offering is generous in both quantity and variety. It has everything for even the fussiest of feasters; from pancakes and pastries to full English favourites, fresh fruit and yoghurts to cereals and muffins, there really is something for everyone. There is a speciality coffee machine, a selection of teas, juices, milk, iced water… and its all totally limitless. The best thing of all is that kids eat free with full paying adults, so you don’t feel obliged to make sure they eat their money’s worth!

In Summary

The Premier Inn Southampton West is a great value option for families or couples visiting Paulton’s Park (home of Peppa Pig World) or embarking a cruise from Southampton. It is in an excellent location, the rooms are super clean and the staff can’t do enough for you.
